Infineon Unveils Quantum-Ready, Quad-Motor MCUs

THE VOLT VOTES

Infineon is expanding its PSOC Control family with a serious contender, the new PSOC Control C3 Main Line PSC3M/P6 microcontrollers. Designed to hit the sweet spot between cost and capability, these new MCUs pair real-time power and motor control with heavy-duty, future-proof security.

What really stands out is the efficiency. A single MCU can comfortably drive up to four brushless DC motors, whether you’re using sensors or going sensorless. That makes them incredibly versatile for a massive range of power topologies, powering everything from drones and robotics to industrial drives, renewable energy systems, datacenters, and even digital healthcare tech.

On the security front, Infineon is clearly looking ahead. These chips are ready for the post-quantum cryptography (PQC) era, complying with the CNSA Suite 2.0 for firmware protection while also supporting PSA Level 3.

In practical terms, they give engineers the robust security needed to meet strict new standards like the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) without bogging down the design process.

Here is a breakdown of what makes these MCUs stand out:

  • Serious Processing Power: Built on the Arm® Cortex®-M33 architecture, running up to 180 MHz.
  • Real-Time Responsiveness: Engineered to handle real-time events seamlessly, supporting quad-motor control, PFC, and ultra-high RPM motor systems.
  • Wide-Bandgap Ready: Features fast, highly precise analog and digital processing to tighten control loops and maximize overall system efficiency.
  • Future-Proof Security: Rated up to PSA L3 / EPC3 and “DICE ready,” with baked-in PQC support to keep you compliant with the latest cyber standards.
  • A Scalable Ecosystem: Fully compatible across different features, packages, pinouts, and memory sizes, allowing you to scale your designs without starting from scratch.
  • More Than Just Motor Control: Integrated on-chip OpAmps, alongside USB and I3C interfaces, make these MCUs highly adaptable for applications well beyond standard power systems.
  • Faster Time-to-Market: Supported by the ModusToolbox™ Power Suite and Motor Suite GUIs. Between the dedicated tools, advanced libraries, and an integrated AI Assistant, migrating from legacy solutions is practically seamless.

Leadership Comment

New PSOC Control C3 Main Line PSC3MP6 microcontrollers THE VOLT POST“These next-generation MCUs are designed for multi-motor control and power conversion systems that require high-perforaamance, efficiency and advanced security features,” says Steve Tateosian, SVP and General Manager, IoT, Consumer and Industrial MCUs, Infineon Technologies. “As industrial applications increasingly demand faster control loops for tighter control and improved efficiency, the PSC3M/P6 MCUs give customers another option to help meet their motor, power and general-purpose design needs without increasing their footprint.”

Availability

PSOC Control C3 Main Line PSC3M/P6 MCUs with post-quantum cryptography compliance is available now. The CNSA 2.0-compatible MCU family includes SHA-512 and LMS firmware verification for Secure Boot and firmware update verification.

Infineon offers dedicated parts for Motor Control (PSC3M6) and Power Conversion (PSC3P6) with multiple package options up to 100 pins.
