DigiKey Exclusively Launches Google-Powered Coralboard for Edge AI

THE VOLT VOTES

DigiKey is now the exclusive global distributor for the newly available Coralboard™, a powerful edge AI development board manufactured by Grinn. Powered by a combination of Google Research’s Coral NPU technology and Synaptics Astra® embedded processors, this board is built to take engineering teams straight from rapid prototyping to full-scale production.

At its core, the Coralboard is designed for fast, highly efficient on-device AI inference. Because it is optimized for ultra-low-power, always-on ambient sensing, it easily handles all-day AI workloads, even in strictly battery-constrained setups.

Here is what makes it a highly practical starting point for edge AI development:

  • Plug-and-Play Ready: Out of the box, it offers seamless hardware integration for cameras, displays, and audio.

  • Flexible Connectivity: Includes Ethernet-over-USB alongside optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules to keep your edge devices easily connected.

  • Seamless Scaling: Provides a unified hardware foundation so embedded developers, AI engineers, and system architects can transition from early-stage concept validation directly into commercial manufacturing without having to change their underlying tech stack.

Whether you are building smart cameras, voice-enabled tech, predictive maintenance sensors, or industrial monitoring systems, the Coralboard provides the processing power and efficiency needed to deploy smart experiences directly at the edge.

Leadership Comments

“DigiKey is excited to partner with Synaptics and Google Research to bring the Synaptics Coralboard to the global engineering community,” said Mike Slater, vice president of global business development for DigiKey. “By carrying the full stack, from development board to module to silicon, DigiKey can support edge AI developers at every Newly available Coralboard by Grin at DigiKey The Volt Poststage from experimentation to production. Google Research, Synaptics and Grinn have delivered a game-changing dev board to the electronics industry, and we are excited to support them in getting the board into the hands of engineers, designers, makers and developers worldwide.”

“We are excited that the Synaptics Coralboard is now available directly for developers through DigiKey,” said Billy Rutledge, director for Google Research. “With Coralboard, it is easier than ever to bring advanced AI to the edge, and this platform reflects our shared commitment to secure and accessible Edge AI for developers around the globe.”

“With Google’s Coral NPU technology, we are enabling a cutting-edge class of systems where power efficiency, performance and on-device intelligence characterize developer experience,” said Vikram Gupta, SVP & GM, edge compute & connectivity solutions division for Synaptics. “The Coralboard provides users and OEMs a faster path to building and deploying at-scale AI products for the edge.”
