Vimag Labs Powers Up India Plant to Scale Magnet-Free Motor Tech

THE VOLT VOTES

Vimag Labs has officially commenced operations at its first manufacturing facility in Met City, Jhajjar, Haryana. Designed to build advanced motor and control systems anchored by the company’s proprietary magnet-free motor technology, the plant is already active, having recently completed and exported its first production batch.

This site serves as ground zero for Vimag’s broader phased manufacturing expansion in India. The company has earmarked around Rs 50 crore for the build-out, deploying capital strategically as customer programs, product volumes, and capacity requirements mature. The ultimate goal is to establish a flexible, scalable production base in India to service both domestic and global markets.

Currently spanning 10,000 sq. ft. with the immediate ability to double in size, the Jhajjar facility is not your standard assembly plant.

The initial phase is heavily focused on industrialization, process validation, and the serial production of mid-power systems.

To achieve this, Vimag has leaned hard into modern manufacturing standards, outfitting the space with clean rooms, IoT-enabled monitoring, deep traceability, and highly automated, Industry 4.0-connected production lines.

Scaling Capacity and High-Power Ambitions

Right now, production is geared toward mid-power applications for electric mobility and other electrified systems, with Vimag engineering its lines to scale up to 10,000 units per month.

As customer demands evolve, the roadmap shifts toward high-power territory. The company plans to introduce motor and control systems rated at 570 kW and above, which will trigger further investments in testing and manufacturing infrastructure across additional locations.

To sustain this trajectory, Vimag is actively building a localized network of supply chain, tooling, and industrialization partners. As operations scale, the company expects to create 100 to 150 direct and indirect jobs, prioritizing local talent across engineering, testing, and quality control.

Backed by Capital and Strategic Partnerships

Vimag has the financial runway and alliances to support its hardware scale-up. The company recently closed a $5 million Series A round led by Accel, alongside Chakra Growth Fund and Thinkuvate.

On the production side, they have inked a manufacturing MoU with Jendamark Pvt. Ltd. to accelerate scale-up operations.

Furthermore, Vimag has secured an exclusive U.S. technology licensing and commercialization agreement for a production-ready, bidirectional high-voltage inverter platform capable of operating at up to 1,000 volts, significantly strengthening its power electronics portfolio.

Leadership Comment

Manish Seth, Co-founder and CEO, Vimag Labs, said: “The commencement of manufacturing marks an important transition for Vimag from technology development and validation into industrialisation and serial production. Jhajjar is the first step in a broader manufacturing build-out. We are currently planning around Rs 50 crore of investment, to be In jhajjar, Vimag Labs to build motor and control Systems The Volt Postdeployed in phases as customer programmes, traction and product requirements develop. The scale and timing of investment will evolve with demand as we build capacity and deepen our manufacturing base. The first production batch has already been exported from Jhajjar, demonstrating that the facility has moved into commercial manufacturing.”

He added, “Our initial focus is on scaling mid-power motor and control systems for commercial programmes. As customer programmes mature, we plan to extend manufacturing into high-power systems of 570 kW and above and deepen partnerships across India for manufacturing, supply chain, tooling and industrialisation. Our long-term goal is to build a globally competitive production base in India for domestic and international customers.”
