Rimac Technology and BMW Group just revealed their first production vehicle from a partnership kicked off back in 2023. It’s a new BMW i7, the brand’s first fully electric model with a co-developed battery system and it’ll make its global debut at Auto China 2026 in Beijing on April 22.

This battery pairs BMW’s Gen6 4695 lithium-ion cylindrical cells with Rimac’s Gen5 module tech, creating a flexible, scalable design.
And they pulled it off thanks to some serious operational heavy lifting, Rimac built a brand-new production facility from scratch, stood up two full lines, and locked in a supply chain ready for a top-tier global automaker’s volume and quality demands.
The batteries will roll out of Rimac’s state-of-the-art Campus near Zagreb, one of Europe’s biggest industrial projects of its kind. This 90,000 m² site dedicates 15,000 m² just to BMW’s program, with 70% of its capacity already spoken for by other major OEM clients.
From day one, the Campus was built for high-volume, high-spec battery production like this, giving Rimac the scale and flexibility to compete as a true Tier 1 supplier.
