SEALSQ Begins Commercial Rollout of Miraex Quantum Photonics

THE VOLT VOTES

SEALSQ has launched the commercial phase of its Miraex Quantum Photonics, following its full acquisition of the Swiss company in June 2026.

SEALSQ Launches Miraex Quantum Photonics in the market The Volt PostThe deal, completed on June 2, 2026, marked a key step in SEALSQ’s push to build what it describes as the world’s first Quantum Sovereign Vertical Stack — a unified platform spanning secure semiconductor hardware, post-quantum cryptography, quantum communications, quantum networking and quantum computing.

The acquisition was funded through SEALSQ’s $200 million Quantum Fund, or SEALQUANTUM.com, which has already deployed more than $65 million into strategic quantum investments.

Miraex, based at the EPFL Innovation Park in Ecublens, Switzerland, will now serve as the foundation of SEALSQ’s quantum photonics business.

At the core of Miraex’s work is its Thin Film Lithium Tantalate Photonic Integrated Circuit, or TFLT PIC, platform. The technology is designed to convert quantum information between microwave frequencies used by superconducting quantum processors and optical frequencies used for long-distance quantum communications, helping solve one of the biggest challenges in scaling quantum computing and quantum networking.

The first commercial focus will be on four high-growth areas:

  • Distributed quantum computing,
  • Quantum networking,
  • Quantum sensing,
  • Quantum Orbital Space Cloud.

SEALSQ says these applications are aimed at interconnecting quantum processors, supporting quantum key distribution and future quantum internet infrastructure, enabling advanced sensing for defense and critical infrastructure, and powering radiation-tolerant space-based communications.

The company says Miraex’s integration will strengthen its longer-term plan to build sovereign quantum infrastructure that brings together secure semiconductors, post-quantum cybersecurity, photonic interconnects, trusted cloud computing and secure space communications.

SEALSQ also sees the rollout as part of a broader push to accelerate quantum adoption through partnerships with hyperscalers, telecom operators, government agencies, defense groups, research institutions and industrial players.

With Miraex moving into the market, SEALSQ says it is reinforcing Switzerland’s position as a global quantum innovation hub while advancing its goal of building secure quantum technologies for the digital economy.

Leadership Comment

SEALSQ Launches Miraex Quantum Photonics in the market The Volt Post“This marks SEALSQ’s transition from breakthrough research to commercial deployment,” said Carlos Moreira, Chairman and CEO of SEALSQ. “Miraex closes the quantum interconnect layer of our Quantum Sovereign Vertical Stack, the one piece the industry cannot scale without, and we now own it outright, acquired and funded through our $200 million Quantum Fund.”

“That gives us an end-to-end offering no competitor can match today: secure semiconductors, post-quantum cryptography, quantum networking, distributed quantum computing, and secure satellite communications, delivered from a single sovereign platform. We are taking that stack to governments, defense organizations, cloud providers, telecom operators, and critical infrastructure operators worldwide. This is how a research pipeline becomes a revenue pipeline, and it is why we remain confident in our growth trajectory and our Root-to-Qubit strategy,” added Carlos.
