Marvell Technology is putting $250 million behind its India operations over the next three years to expand technology development, engineering talent and infrastructure. The announcement, made on July 29, 2026, coincides with a milestone event marking 20 years of innovation in the country and underscores the company’s push to deepen its role in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

As part of the plan, Marvell will double its India headcount over the three year window, unveil a new wing at its Bengaluru office and expand its presence in Hyderabad.

The company already runs engineering centers in Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, and the expanded footprint is meant to strengthen its global innovation network for advanced semiconductor solutions targeting AI, cloud and data infrastructure.

From 2006 startup outpost to second largest R&D hub

Marvell set up shop in Bengaluru in 2006 and has since grown India into its second largest R&D organization worldwide. Teams across Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad have built deep expertise in advanced process technologies at 2 nm and beyond, high speed analog IP, subsystem design, software and firmware development, and end to end silicon development.

Today, Marvell India contributes across numerous technology platforms, with employees holding multiple patents and playing a leading role in applying advanced AI tools to accelerate engineering productivity and innovation.

The company says India now accounts for a large share of its global engineering deployments and contributes to more than 90 percent of its product lines, including AI infrastructure chips for hyperscale data centers.

Ecosystem push – universities, startups and policy

Beyond in house technology development, Marvell is betting on the long term growth of India’s semiconductor ecosystem through collaboration with universities, startups, industry associations and government organizations.

The company works with leading universities to support internship programs, faculty development initiatives, joint research projects and curriculum development designed to better prepare students for careers in advanced technology fields.

Marvell also works with emerging startups through mentorship and strategic collaborations in areas aligned with its technology and product portfolios. In addition, the company actively engages with industry associations and government bodies to foster greater collaboration across the ecosystem and support the continued growth of India’s semiconductor industry.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has publicly noted Marvell’s work on 2 nm chip design in India and its collaboration with domestic chip design startups and academic institutions. The timing of the investment also aligns with New Delhi’s recent move to inject an additional $13.38 billion into its semiconductor programme to strengthen domestic manufacturing and design capabilities.

Scholarships for the next generation of chip engineers

At the milestone event, Marvell highlighted its commitment to developing future engineering talent through the Marvell Scholarship for Technical and Engineering Merit (MSTEM) program.

The initiative is designed to cultivate the next generation of AI and semiconductor innovators through financial support, hands on industry experience and exposure to real world technology development.

Launched earlier this year, the MSTEM program supports students pursuing degrees in electronics, electrical engineering and computer science. The program attracted more than 7,000 applicants from leading universities across India, with 100 outstanding students selected to receive scholarships.

By combining financial assistance with practical industry engagement, Marvell aims to strengthen India’s technology talent pipeline and prepare students for careers at the forefront of semiconductor and AI innovation.
