MIKROE rolled out the SmartMCD TB9M001FTG, a game-changing motor control development board perfect for automotive body electronics.

At its heart sits Toshiba’s automotive-grade  TB9M001FTG SmartMCD IC, which packs an embedded ARM® Cortex®-M0 MCU (running up to 40MHz) with integrated low-side and high-side drivers for brushed DC motors and loads.
It comes with 192KB code flash, 16KB data flash, 16KB SRAM, and 12KB ROM, plus an onboard debug unit based on Toshiba’s TMPM067FW for instant out-of-box testing.
What Makes This Board a Prototyping Powerhouse?
-
Dual high-current channels: Controls two brushed DC motors via solid-state relays (up to 20A per channel).
-
Connectivity ready: USB Type-C, USB-to-UART, LIN interface, Hall sensor monitoring, and plenty of headers/jumpers.
-
Developer-friendly: LEDs, push buttons, switches, and all the circuits you need in a super-compact 130mm x 73mm footprint.
-
Battle-tested for cars: AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified, works from -40°C to +90°C.
Whether you’re proving a concept or building a full prototype, this board gets you from idea to working demo lightning-fast. Perfect for engineers tackling automotive body electronics who need reliable motor control without the hassle.
