Pickering Interfaces Rolls Out Modular 65-217 LXI Matrix to Simplify Scalable Test Systems.
Test engineers dealing with constantly shifting system requirements just got a new tool to make capacity expansion a lot less painful. Pickering Interfaces has launched the 65-217, an Ethernet-controlled, modular LXI matrix designed to scale seamlessly while keeping maintenance downtime to an absolute minimum.
Built to slide into Pickering’s 65-200 scalable LXI chassis platform, the new 2-amp plug-in is highly adaptable. Each module adds a 64×8, 1-pole matrix, allowing teams to build out to a massive 384×8 configuration inside a standard 19-inch, 2U chassis.
For engineers working in the aerospace and automotive sectors, the matrix fills a highly specific niche: it explicitly supports RF crosstalk measurements on unterminated signal paths.
To keep signal performance tight and flexible, the 65-217 features a dual Y-axis analog bus. This allows multiple external instruments to tap into different areas of the matrix simultaneously, or it can split the system into two entirely independent matrices.
Users can also disconnect unused sections along the switched Y-axis to maximize overall bandwidth. Switched Y-axis loop-thru connections even allow the matrix to expand across multiple chassis.
Under the hood, the 65-217 switches up to 300 VDC or 250 VAC and 2 amps, maxing out at 60 W or 62.5 VA.
Where the new platform really shines, however, is in its serviceability. The modules are entirely front-loading, meaning technicians can add or swap cards without having to pull the heavy chassis out of the test rack. To prevent unexpected mid-test failures, onboard relay cycle counting lets engineers actively monitor wear and schedule preventative maintenance.
If a relay does wear out, the system’s integrated BIRST (Built-In Relay Self-Test) and optional eBIRST diagnostic tools quickly pinpoint the failure. Conveniently, spare relays are mounted directly on every plug-in for an immediate, on-the-spot fix.
Available with or without front-panel Y-axis access, the 65-217 is backed by Pickering’s standard three-year warranty and guaranteed long-term product support.
