Reflecting on 2025, Pickering Electronics is celebrating a year packed with innovation, milestones, and meaningful progress in switching technology. Despite an uncertain global economy and the impact of rising U.S. import tariffs across the manufacturing sector, the company continued to grow and deliver breakthroughs in high-voltage and high-performance reed relay design.

Switching innovation and progress
Over the past year, Pickering pushed the limits of reed relay technology with several new introductions that expanded its high-voltage and high-performance portfolio:
-
Series 63 now delivers a 20 kV stand-off voltage, giving engineers extra headroom for demanding high-voltage applications.
-
Series 68 saw a power boost to 200 W, offering higher performance while maintaining Pickering’s trademark reliability.
-
Series 144ES builds on the popular Series 144 design, adding an electrostatic shield between coil and switch to reduce interference in high-voltage circuits—still handling up to 80 W in a compact, board-friendly format.
-
The award-winning Series 125 family expanded with new single-pole options and a range of variants 1 Form A, B, C, and coaxial all in the same ultra-compact footprint.
-
Pickering also launched the customizable Series 600, designed from the ground up for flexibility, offering up to 12.5 kV switching, 25 kV standoff, and 200 W handling, with an extensive range of configuration options.
Award-winning relays
After being named a finalist in 2024 for its high-power Series 144, Pickering’s Series 125 went on to win Electromechanical Product of the Year at the Elektra Awards 2025 and was also recognized as one of EPDT’s Products of the Year.
These honors reaffirm the company’s leadership in designing innovative, compact, and high-performance relays.
Strengthening its global footprint
Pickering’s presence in South Asia took a major step forward last year. Its Malaysia office is now fully incorporated and operational, giving customers in the region more direct access to local technical support and engagement at industry events.
New technical resources for engineers
Pickering engineers also dedicated time in 2025 to creating valuable guides and online hubs to help customers get more from their relay selections:
-
The High Voltage Reed Relay Resource Center — offering deep technical insights, design recommendations, and best practices for high-voltage applications.
-
The Space Applications Guide — showcasing how Pickering’s relays perform reliably in extreme environments, including wide temperature ranges and extended lifetimes.
-
The High Potential Testing Guide — detailing insulation testing principles and helping engineers choose the right reed relays for reliable, accurate results.
Global events and engagement
Throughout the year, Pickering showcased its innovations at major tradeshows across Asia and Europe. Highlights included launching the Series 600 at Electronica China and presenting its expanded Series 125 range at Productronica in Munich.
The team also participated in Automotive Testing Expo China and India, Semicon Japan, Semicon Taiwan, Electronica India, and the Korea Test Conference, where it connected with engineers to discuss the latest in high-reliability switching solutions.
Looking ahead to 2026
With an exciting lineup of new products and continued innovation on the horizon, Pickering is ready to build on its 2025 success. The company remains committed to helping engineers solve tough design challenges through high-quality, reliable, and customizable reed relays.
Pickering’s leadership in the high-end reed relay market is built on decades of manufacturing excellence. Its relays feature instrumentation-grade switches, patented SoftCenter™
technology for enhanced durability, and Mu-metal screening for high packing density with minimal magnetic interference.
Every product is 100% tested to ensure the consistent performance and long operational life, up to billions of cycles that engineers around the world trust.
