Siemens Energy is preparing to retire the Siemens name and step out under its own global brand identity Omterra, unifying its conventional and renewable businesses under a single umbrella.

From spin off to standalone brand
After being spun off from Siemens AG in 2020, Siemens Energy has operated under a time limited license to use the Siemens brand. With the company now on a firmer strategic and financial footing, leadership says the moment is right to transition to a fully independent identity.
Under the plan, the current Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy entities will be brought together under one shared name and brand Omterra.
The rebranding will start later this calendar year and roll out in stages across markets and business units rather than in a single switch.
Why Omterra and what changes
Siemens Energy describes Omterra as a deliberately chosen, standalone brand designed to work globally and reflect the company’s footprint in more than 90 countries.
According to the company, the name is meant to signal its technological depth and its ambition to support reliable energy supplies and the energy transition worldwide.
For customers, suppliers and employees, the company stresses that strategy and day to day business will remain unchanged during and after the brand transition.
The shift is primarily about identity and governance as the Siemens name license approaches its planned end, not about altering the portfolio or repositioning away from its core markets.
An energy portfolio spanning the value chain
Siemens Energy today positions itself as one of the world’s leading energy technology providers, working with partners on future ready power systems and decarbonisation.
Its portfolio spans almost the full energy value chain from generation and heat to transmission and storage, with offerings in both conventional and renewable technologies.
Products and solutions range from gas and steam turbines and hybrid plants that can run on hydrogen, through power generators and transformers, to grid technologies and services.
By bringing Siemens Gamesa’s wind business and the broader energy portfolio together under Omterra, the company is aiming to present a more unified face to the market as it competes in large scale transition projects.
Leadership Comments
“Since our spin-off, it has been clear that the licensed Siemens Energy brand would be available to us for a limited period. Today, our company is well positioned strategically, operationally and financially. We have earned the trust of our customers and the capital markets, improved our profitability, and have ambitious growth plans for the years ahead. Against this backdrop and given that the current brand agreement is time-limited, now is the right time to begin the transition to our own independent brand,” says Christian Bruch, CEO of Siemens Energy.
“We are proud of what our employees have built over the past few years. Our founder’s name opened doors and supported us on our path to independence. This legacy remains both an inspiration and a commitment for us as we actively help shape the energy world of tomorrow,” Bruch adds.
