Eplan Platform 2027 Goes Live with Built-In AI Copilot, Cloud Device Management

THE VOLT VOTES

First previewed at Eplan Next26 in May, the new Eplan Platform 2027 is now officially available. Packed with more than 500 enhancements, the release focuses on removing workflow friction across preplanning, electrical engineering, and control cabinet design.

Directly integrated: Eplan Copilot supports users of the new version with features such as quick cross-project part searches or specific recommendations.

An AI Assistant Built Directly Into The Software

The standout addition is Eplan Copilot, an AI assistant built directly into the software. Available since early September, Copilot acts as an embedded knowledge base, guiding users through technical questions and complex workflows directly inside the app.

It also eliminates the tedious process of tracking down component usage: engineers can enter a part number, and the AI searches all cloud-hosted projects to return direct links to every page where that component appears.

Users can interact with Copilot via text or voice to translate project files, generate bills of materials (BOMs), simplify menus, and run automated quality checks.

Centralized Cloud Device Management

Platform 2027 also targets data fragmentation with centralized cloud device management. Hybrid IT environments often force engineering teams to maintain separate local and cloud systems, leading to data gaps and duplicate effort.

By displaying information such as the process flow direction or tank filling, Eplan Preplanning offers significantly more in-depth information along with numerous new automation functions.

The new cloud system introduces automatic, bidirectional synchronization between local setups and the Eplan Cloud.

Any update to device records or master data including formulas, plot frames, and symbol libraries instantly reflects across all environments, giving remote and on-site teams access to consistent, up-to-date information.

Expanded Partner Integration Ecosystem

To prevent data silos, Eplan expanded its partner integration ecosystem. A key update includes seamless connectivity with Rockwell Emulate 3D, allowing engineers to push design data directly into a virtual simulation environment.

Teams can test machine layouts and validate actual PLC control logic in a digital twin long before physical hardware reaches the factory floor. Enhanced connections to ERP and PDM platforms also ensure device data stays aligned with broader company records.

By bringing AI, cloud synchronization, and virtual validation into a single environment, Eplan Platform 2027 aims to cut down on administrative overhead so engineers can focus on actual design work.
