ABB acquires Advantics also enhances ABB’s ability to design and deploy advanced DC systems with greater power density, resilience, and flexibility.

ABB is strengthening its position in next-generation power conversion with the acquisition of France-based Advantics, a specialist in Silicon Carbide (SiC) power technologies. While financial details remain undisclosed, the deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
ABB acquires Advantics to significantly expand its Direct Current (DC) portfolio at a time when demand for efficient DC systems is accelerating across data centers, industrial microgrids, power generation, and EV infrastructure.
As electricity consumption continues to surge, the shift toward more efficient power architectures is becoming critical. According to The IEA, electricity’s share of final energy consumption is projected to grow from 20 percent today to nearly 36 percent by 2035.
Advantics brings high-efficiency SiC-based power conversion technology capable of delivering up to 99 percent efficiency. Its solutions integrate hardware, firmware, and software to optimize performance in energy-intensive applications.
By incorporating these capabilities, ABB aims to reduce energy losses associated with repeated AC/DC conversions and improve overall system efficiency.
ABB acquires Advantics also enhances ABB’s ability to design and deploy advanced DC systems with greater power density, resilience, and flexibility.
Combined with ABB’s existing strengths in protection, distribution, digital control, and system-level engineering, Advantics’ technology is expected to play a key role in enabling more efficient and adaptable electrical architectures.
Headquartered in Saint-Genis-Pouilly, eastern France, Advantics has focused on developing high-performance power converter modules tailored for demanding environments.
Its addition strengthens ABB’s broader strategy to build integrated DC solutions that support evolving energy and electrification needs.
