Infineon Technologies has announced plans to acquire Bengaluru semiconductor company C2i Semiconductors, a technology company focused on software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for AI data center applications.
The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of calendar year 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. It will bring C2i Semiconductors‘ digital power expertise into Infineon’s broader portfolio of power semiconductors and power systems, with the companies targeting more intelligent and scalable power delivery architectures for AI servers and high-performance computing platforms.
C2i’s technology is designed to address the increasingly dynamic power requirements of AI processors, which can create rapid changes in load demand. Software-defined power solutions combine power semiconductors with digital control and software algorithms to adjust power conversion and regulation in real time.
For data center operators, this approach can help improve power efficiency, reduce losses and manage the higher power densities associated with next-generation AI processors. C2i takes a system-level approach to power delivery, covering the path from the grid to the processor core.
Expanding Infineon’s AI Power Portfolio
The transaction will combine C2i Semiconductors’ expertise in digital power management with Infineon’s global scale, application knowledge and established power semiconductor portfolio.
Infineon’s technologies span silicon, silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), along with vertical power delivery solutions. The combined capabilities are also expected to support the development of future Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators (SIVR).
Infineon said the acquisition will help accelerate the development of power delivery technologies capable of meeting the performance, efficiency and scalability requirements of next-generation AI infrastructure.
Strengthening Semiconductor R&D in India
The acquisition will also expand Infineon’s engineering and R&D capabilities in India by adding C2i’s specialized expertise in software-defined power management.
Infineon currently employs around 2,800 people in India, which has become an increasingly important semiconductor and technology hub. The company said the transaction will further strengthen India’s role within its global innovation network.
For Infineon, the deal adds another layer to its AI data center strategy, extending its power portfolio from individual semiconductor components toward intelligent, software-driven power delivery systems designed to support the rapidly growing energy demands of AI computing.
