Toshiba Unveils PCIe 6.0 Mux Switches with 34GHz Bandwidth

THE VOLT VOTES

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has launched the TDS5C212MX and TDS5B212MX, new 2:1 multiplexer (Mux) / 1:2 demultiplexer (De-Mux) switches designed for next-generation high-speed interfaces like PCIe 6.0 and USB4 Version 2.0. Volume shipments begin today.

PCIe 6.0 MuxDe-Mux Switches rolled out by Toshiba The Volt Post

As servers, industrial testers, robots, and PCs continue to evolve, there’s growing demand for reliable switching of ultra-high-speed, wide-bandwidth differential signals in increasingly tight board spaces.

The new switches address this using their proprietary SOI process (TarfSOIâ„¢), delivering industry-leading -3-dB bandwidths of 34GHz (typ.) for the TDS5C212MX and 29GHz (typ.) for the TDS5B212MX. These specs minimize signal distortion and boost reliability for high-speed data transmission.

The 2:1 multiplexer (Mux) / 1:2 demultiplexer (De-Mux) switches work as either 2-input/1-output Mux switches or 1-input/2-output De-Mux switches in applications like PCIe® 6.0 and USB4® Version 2.0. They enable sharing a single high-speed interface across multiple devices or switching paths based on system needs.

Both feature pin layouts optimized for high-frequency performance, with the TDS5C212MX particularly minimizing signal path lengths to cut reflections and losses for better integrity. They also handle operating temperatures from -40°C to 125°C, making them a great fit for industrial use.

The company plans to keep advancing high-performance, reliable analog switches to support the next wave of high-speed interface evolution.
