Littelfuse has just rolled out two new Bidirectional TVS Diode Arrays, the AQ4315-01ETG and SP4315-01WTG designed to end the traditional compromise between low clamping voltage and ultra-low capacitance. They are built specifically to protect today’s fastest, most sensitive data interfaces from electrostatic discharge (ESD) without wrecking signal integrity.

As high-speed interfaces like automotive ADAS, DisplayPort, and USB4 push data-line voltages below 1V to cut power consumption and reduce EMI, they become incredibly vulnerable to ESD damage.
Historically, standard TVS diodes have forced engineers to make a tough choice between low clamping and low capacitance. Even worse, many competing parts boast low breakdown voltages on paper, but their actual clamping levels are still high enough to fry the protected IC.
These new diodes hold clamping voltages to a typical 4.5V to 6.5V. When a massive 8,000V to 20,000V ESD transient hits, they suppress it to well under 10V before it reaches the IC, an 800- to 2,000-fold reduction in voltage and current that keeps the protected device safely within its Safe Operating Area (SOA).
Key Specs at a Glance:
- Ultra-Low Clamping: Typical 4.5V to 6.5V during an ESD strike, offering up to a 10x improvement over legacy diodes.
- Ultra-Low Capacitance:25 pF (AQ4315) and 0.17 pF (SP4315) ensures high-speed signals remain pristine.
- Heavy-Duty ESD Protection: ±15 kV contact and ±20 kV air (IEC 61000-4-2), with the AQ variant also meeting ISO10605 specs.
- Automotive-Ready: The AQ4315-01ETG is AEC-Q101 qualified, PPAP capable, and rated for extreme temperatures (-40°C to 150°C).
- Drop-In Footprints: Housed in standard SOD-882/DFN1006 and 0201 WLCSP packages for frictionless design-in.
- Battery-Friendly: A maximum leakage current of just 50 nA keeps always-on and portable designs efficient.
Where They Belong?
These arrays are purpose-built for ultra-sensitive, high-bandwidth applications, including:
- Automotive ADAS, Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL), and Gigabit Video Interface (GVIF)
- 5G, 5G, and 10G Ethernet (Automotive and Consumer)
- Thunderbolt 5.0, USB4, USB 3x, and DisplayPort links
- Space-constrained wearables, portable electronics, and industrial M2M protocols
Ultimately, the AQ4315 and SP4315 represent a necessary leap forward in ultra-low-voltage ESD protection. As data lines progressively dip below 1V, these devices give design teams a clear path to ditch inferior legacy protection and secure their most sensitive interfaces with complete confidence.
Leadership Comment
“The industry is moving toward lower-voltage, higher-speed interfaces faster than traditional ESD protection can keep up,” said Sophia Hu, Assistant Product Marketing Manager, Diode Arrays, Littelfuse Protection Business Unit. “The AQ4315-01ETG and SP4315-01WTG give designers an extremely low clamping voltage without the capacitance penalty, so they gain stronger ESD and surge protection while preserving the signal integrity and board space their next-generation automotive and consumer designs demand.”
