Now in its fourth batch, the program is training 75 high-potential women students selected from more than 18,000 applicants across India. The cohort comprises primarily 3rd semester engineering students in Computer Science and Electronics & Communication Engineering, reflecting NXP’s focus on engaging talent early in their academic journey.
By doing so, the company aims to spark deeper interest in semiconductor engineering and contribute to India’s emerging semiconductor talent ecosystem.
The Women in Tech program integrates classroom learning with hands-on, industry-led experience. Participants undergo a year-long training in VLSI design and work on real-world use cases using NXP’s FRDM development platform, allowing them to apply theoretical concepts directly on hardware. Guided by mentors from NXP, students gain exposure to industry tools, workflows and technologies while building both technical skills and a clearer view of career paths in semiconductor innovation.
As part of the latest edition, Batch 4 students also took part in an immersive industry visit to NXP’s Bengaluru and Noida campuses. The visit featured keynote sessions, lab tours, technical deep dives, leadership talks and fireside conversations with NXP leaders, giving participants first-hand exposure to semiconductor technologies, innovation culture and opportunities across the value chain.
The initiative is already showing tangible outcomes. Many alumni from the first two batches have joined NXP as full-time employees, underscoring Women in Tech’s role as an end-to-end talent development pipeline. The program also supports NXP’s broader diversity and inclusion agenda by expanding opportunities for women in semiconductors and contributing to the company’s global aspiration of increasing women’s representation to 40 percent of its overall workforce.
With each new cohort, the Women in Tech program helps strengthen the next generation of semiconductor talent while reinforcing NXP’s long-term commitment to inclusion and innovation in India’s technology landscape.
As India expands its role in the global semiconductor value chain, initiatives like Women in Tech are set to play a crucial role in widening participation, deepening technical capability and inspiring future innovators through sustained collaboration between industry, academia and students.
Leadership Comment
“At NXP, we believe innovation thrives when diverse perspectives come together. Through Women in Tech, we are not only introducing young women to the possibilities of semiconductor engineering but also helping build the next generation of talent that will power India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. As India accelerates its ambitions to become a global electronics and semiconductor hub, developing a strong, diverse, and future-ready talent pipeline is critical. Programs such as Women in Tech are an investment in both the careers of these talented students and the long-term success of India’s technology landscape.”
