The deployment highlights how Arteris’ system IP is helping Li Auto handle the massive data movement and integration demands of AI-driven automotive platforms.

This collaboration is already supporting current vehicle programs and is expected to scale into future generations of Li Auto’s smart vehicles.

Li Auto, a major player in China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market, continues to push forward with innovation across extended-range EVs (EREVs), battery EVs (BEVs), and intelligent vehicle platforms.

A key milestone is its internally developed autonomous driving SoC, which delivers up to 2,560 TOPS of computing performance enabling the L9 Livis to process complex AI workloads required for advanced autonomous driving.

To build this SoC, Li Auto relied on Arteris FlexNoC 5 interconnect IP along with Magillem’s SoC integration automation tools.

These technologies helped the engineering team meet demanding targets around performance, power efficiency, and functional safety. More importantly, they enabled efficient movement of AI data across the chip critical for maintaining real-time responsiveness in autonomous systems.

Using FlexNoC 5’s physical-aware capabilities, Li Auto engineers were able to rapidly explore and fine-tune interconnect architectures, striking the right balance between performance, power, and area (PPA).

This approach not only reduced design risk but also accelerated time-to-market, while laying the groundwork for future derivative designs.

Built on a 5 nm process node, the SoC integrates a wide mix of compute elements including CPUs, GPUs, AI accelerators, and sensor interfaces along with robust functional safety mechanisms. The result is a system that can deliver consistent, predictable performance even as workloads grow more complex.

Leadership Comments

“Li Auto is committed to delivering intelligent vehicles that seamlessly integrate advanced AI, safety, and user experience, and Arteris plays a key role in that strategy,” said Luo Min, Head of Computing Unit at Li Auto. “We chose Arteris for our SoC development to help us meet the high functional, performance, and safety requirements for autonomous driving chips and to ensure a great user experience in our smart vehicles. Arteris not only Arteris FlexNoC, Magillem enable Li Auto L9 SoC Auto Driving The Volt Postsolved our technical challenges, but also, with its expertise and collaborative approach, is supporting our future vision of intelligent systems.”

“Automotive innovation is being driven by a fundamental shift toward centralized compute and AI-defined functionality, and we are pleased to see our technology deployed in this vehicle and next generation of Li Auto vehicles,” said K. Charles Janac, president and CEO of Arteris. “Its choice to work with Arteris to ensure optimized compute for their vehicles reflects the growing importance of silicon data movement as a critical factor meeting the performance, power, safety and security requirements of today’s physical AI systems. Together, we are enabling the next generation of intelligent vehicle platforms and the L9 Livis SUV is a prime example.”

Arteris products are used in systems ranging from AI data centers to edge AI devices and physical AI systems, including autonomous vehicles.
