In support of families in the Mansfield Independent School District (MISD) in Mansfield, Texas, Mouser Electronics recently announced its participation in the Engineering the Holidays educational exhibit at the yearly Toys for Tots Event.

Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities, entertaining attractions, live performances, music, food trucks, and more were all part of the well-liked holiday celebration that took place on December 3 at the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts.
Local businesses and citizens, including Mouser employees, were encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to contribute to the toy drive, with the collected toys earmarked for needy families in the Mansfield area.
The evening featured a “Engineering the Holidays” exhibit, sponsored by Mouser in partnership with the MISD Education Foundation, which showcased STEM activities, including creating a simple electronic circuit.
In Mansfield, which is part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Mouser is the biggest private employer. The company has a long history of promoting local education.
Mouser frequently contributes to the MISD Education Foundation, which funds STEM awards that allow educators to provide a variety of possibilities for students.
The expansion of makerspaces in Mansfield High School libraries and the distribution of robotics kits and drone technology to assist students in developing critical skills have been made possible by previous Mouser-funded grants.
The Toys for Tots program was started in 1947 by Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, and this year marks its 78th year. Approximately 5,000 toys were given to kids in the Los Angeles region by Toys for Tots in its inaugural year.
Currently, 9.9 million kids receive over 24.4 million toys every year from the Toys for Tots program. They also give backpacks, books, and educational supplies to underprivileged kids through their “Turn the Page” program.
This program makes sure kids have access to the reading materials they need to improve their academic performance, acquire new skills, and cultivate a lifetime love of learning.
Leadership Comments
“Mouser’s beginnings were based on serving educators and students. Encouraging an
interest in STEM may be just the spark a student needs to get started in this field,” said Kevin Hess, Mouser’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “This annual event enables us to help foster the minds of future engineers while supporting families that may be struggling this holiday season.”
“Mouser Electronics has long been a shining example of what forward-thinking businesses and institutions can do to ensure our students will be prepared for the future,” said Jennifer Kurecka, Director of the MISD Education Foundation. “We are grateful to Mouser for once again helping to inspire a higher level of education in our schools.”
