The Dimensity 8400, a high-end smartphone chip with the strongest Gen-AI performance in its class, was unveiled by MediaTek. The MediaTek Dimensity 8400, which builds on the history of the flagship Dimensity 9400, to use an All Big Core design.
Together with MediaTek’s new Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE), which transforms conventional AI apps into complex agentic AI applications, the All Big Core CPU is partnered with a powerful NPU to speed up Gen-AI workloads.
With an eight-core Arm® Cortex®-A725 CPU running at up to 3.25GHz, the Dimensity 8400 SoC offers 41% more multi-core performance than the Dimensity 8300, the previous generation chip. With a 44% decrease in peak power consumption over its predecessor, the Dimensity 8400 is engineered to accurately regulate the CPU’s performance and power curve.
Furthermore, the Arm Mali®-G720 GPU, which has a 24% higher peak performance and a 42% higher power efficiency than the Dimensity 8300, enables rich gaming experiences on the Dimensity 8400. MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT) 3.0, which optimizes game and app performance in real-time, and MediaTek Frame Rate Converter (MFRC), which provides smoother gameplay, complement the Mali-G720 GPU.

QPD remosaic technology is used by the integrated MediaTek Imagiq 1080 ISP to gather more light, focus more quickly and precisely, and create high-resolution photos. To enable users to capture amazing films, the chip now supports HDR recording over the whole zoom range.

Availability
The first smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 will be available in the market by end of 2024.
