Spooky season is officially here, and the element14 Community (backed by Avnet) has just kicked off its 2026 Halloween Hackathon. They’re calling on engineers, makers, and hardware enthusiasts worldwide to show off their best Halloween-themed builds.
Whether you’re designing an interactive costume, over-the-top electronic yard decor, or an automated rig specifically built to terrify trick-or-treaters, this is the place to share it.
Entering is easy, one needs to just submit a solid write-up breaking down exactly how your project works and the steps you took to build it.
There’s a great hardware haul on the line this year. The prize pool includes a Nintendo Switch, a Raspberry Pi CM5 Development Kit, an Arduino Engineering Kit Rev2, plus some serious bench upgrades like Multicomp Pro test and soldering gear and a Dremel Multi-Tool.
You have until November 15 to get your project submitted, and they’ll be announcing the winners shortly after on November 20. Time to start building!
Leadership Comment
“The Halloween Hackathon is always one of the most creative events on our calendar,” said Andreea Teodorescu, Global Director of Product Marketing and element14 Community. “It’s exciting to see community members bring their ideas to life, share what they’ve learned and inspire others through their Halloween-themed electronics projects.”
Participation is free and open to all members of the element14 Community.
