Menlo Microsystems (Menlo Micro) has appointed Richard “Rich” Simoncic as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, as the company looks to build on growing customer adoption and accelerate its transition from technology validation to broader market deployment.

Simoncic joins as New CEO for Menlo Micro after a 35-year career at Microchip Technology, where he most recently served as Chief Operating Officer. During his time at Microchip, he played a key role in scaling the company into a global semiconductor business with approximately $5 billion in annual revenue, contributing to its operational growth, product development and strategic execution.
His experience also includes founding Microchip’s analog business and growing it into an organization generating more than $2 billion in annual revenue. He was also involved in the integration of more than 30 acquisitions and, as COO, oversaw global operations covering product strategy, manufacturing and customer engagement.
Simoncic is already familiar with Menlo Micro, having previously served as a strategic advisor to the company. In that role, he supported its efforts to expand partnerships with leading semiconductor manufacturers working on advanced chips for AI applications.
His appointment comes as Menlo Micro expands its commercial footprint. The company’s products are being used by major semiconductor companies, including NVIDIA, to validate and scale production of advanced chipsets. Menlo Micro is also extending its technology into power control through contracts with the Department of War, as well as into quantum computing following the recent launch of a cryogenic switch.
Simoncic succeeds Russ Garcia, who led the company as CEO for the past decade. Garcia oversaw the company through key stages of technology validation, product commercialization and customer development, helping establish the foundation for its next phase of growth.
As CEO, Simoncic will initially focus on accelerating growth in semiconductor test and measurement, deepening customer engagement and advancing the company’s product strategy across AI infrastructure, data centers, defense and other priority markets.
The leadership transition comes at an important point for the company, as its technology moves toward wider adoption across markets where high-performance switching and advanced semiconductor infrastructure are becoming increasingly critical.
