The new enclosures initially support 15 x 11 mm, 16 x 9 mm and 18 x 13 mm rectangular speaker frame sizes. Each enclosure provides an acoustic cavity of approximately 1 cc, giving engineers a controlled rear volume when testing selected miniature speakers.
For miniature speakers, the rear enclosure can have a significant impact on acoustic performance. Speakers designed to operate with a specific acoustic cavity may not deliver their rated performance when tested without the required rear volume.
