GF, SEALSQ Collaborate on PQC Security, Quantum Chip Platforms

THE VOLT VOTES

SEALSQ Corp and GlobalFoundries (GF) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop secure semiconductor technologies, with a focus on post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and next-generation quantum computing.

The partnership brings together GF’s strengths in advanced process technologies and large-scale manufacturing with SEALSQ’s expertise in hardware-based security and PQC-ready semiconductor solutions. Both companies are also actively investing in quantum technologies, positioning the collaboration at the intersection of security and emerging computing architectures.

At its core, the agreement reflects a broader shift in the semiconductor industry. CMOS technology, long known for powering the digital era through scaling and cost efficiency, is now being adapted to support the demands of quantum computing offering a pathway to scalable and commercially viable quantum systems.

The collaboration will focus on three key areas.

  • First, the companies aim to expand GF’s IP ecosystem by developing pre-certified PQC security IP blocks. In partnership with MIPS, a GF company, this includes hard macro security solutions and Chiplet Hardware Security Module (CHSM) components designed for applications such as hardware security modules and secure enclaves.
  • Second, the partnership will advance cryogenic CMOS technologies. Building on GF’s recently launched Quantum Technology Solutions initiative, the two companies will work on cryo-CMOS ASICs capable of operating at ultra-low temperatures—an essential requirement for future quantum systems. These efforts will leverage GF’s U.S.-based manufacturing footprint for joint customers and partners.
  • Third, the agreement aligns with growing global emphasis on secure and sovereign semiconductor supply chains. Both companies highlighted their shared focus on trusted, traceable, and secure production, supporting national and regional technology priorities in the U.S. and Europe.

The collaboration builds on GF’s ongoing investments in quantum technologies and complements its Quantum Technology Solutions business, while reinforcing SEALSQ’s push into quantum computing. Together, the companies are betting on semiconductors as a foundational layer for the next phase of scalable quantum innovation.

“A shared long-term vision between GF and SEALSQ is that semiconductors, cybersecurity, Post-Quantum Cryptography, and quantum computing are converging into a single technology ecosystem,” said Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ. “GlobalFoundries is one of the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers, and its growing commitment to security and quantum technologies perfectly complements SEALSQ’s expertise in secure semiconductors, PQC, and our investments across the quantum ecosystem. This partnership is a natural fit and a powerful validation of our shared vision. Together, we have the opportunity to help shape the secure and scalable technology platforms that will power the quantum era.”

“This partnership is about building the foundation for the quantum era: trusted digital infrastructure secured by Post-Quantum Cryptography and the semiconductor technologies that will enable future quantum computing systems,” said Nicholas Sergeant, vice president of Quantum Technology Solutions at GF. “SEALSQ’s secure-semiconductor and Post-Quantum Cryptography expertise complements GF’s differentiated technology portfolio and expanding quantum capabilities. Together, we are uniquely positioned to give customers and partners the technologies needed to secure and enable the quantum future.”
