Baumann Automation is sharpening its competitive edge with a major overhaul of its digital backbone, choosing CIM Database PLM from CONTACT Software to replace its legacy systems and break down data silos.
The company’s goal is clear. Baumann wants to deliver flexible, digital automation solutions from a single source, while facing up to global competition, tightening regulation and the drag of fragmented data. Its previous system had reached its limits on scalability and traceability and was slowing development and innovation.
CIM Database PLM was selected for its flexible scalability and its ability to integrate ERP, MCAD and ECAD applications in one platform. The current project phase focuses on product and document management, with a plan to extend the solution step by step across the full digital product lifecycle. Over time, all project, process and product data will be managed within one system, creating a unified source of truth for the business.
A key part of the rollout is usability. With a modern, user-friendly interface, up to 600 users are expected to benefit from a more efficient, intuitive working environment. That’s essential for an organization where engineering, production and support teams must collaborate closely across disciplines.
From its 30,000 m² site in Amberg, Germany, Baumann Automation develops and builds automation systems for international automotive suppliers as well as customers in the electronics and home appliance sectors.
With around 40 years of experience, more than 7,300 systems in operation worldwide and 
over 900 employees, the move to a scalable PLM platform is a strategic step to support future growth and maintain its position in demanding global markets.
