Infineon’s SECORA ID Key S USB Delivers FIDO Level 3+ Passwordless Security

THE VOLT VOTES

Infineon Technologies is expanding its hardware-based security portfolio with the launch of SECORA™ ID Key S USB, a Java Card™-based authenticator that combines USB and NFC connectivity for secure login and digital signatures.

Infineon SECORA ID Key S USB brings FIDO Level 3+ The Volt Post

Designed for modern zero-trust environments, the device targets enterprises, financial institutions, and government deployments that need strong, phishing-resistant authentication and flexible identity use cases.

At the core of the solution is FIDO-certified Level 3+ security with CTAP 2.1 compliance, enabling passwordless, phishing-resistant authentication and protection against both remote software and local hardware attacks.

The SECORA ID Key S USB comes with preloaded applets for FIDO authentication, qualified digital signature creation, and PKI functions, while still offering deep customization so customers can tailor workflows and security policies to their specific deployments.

Built on Infineon’s system-in-package ID Key S USB hardware platform and an open Java Card environment, the solution gives customers the freedom to develop, migrate, and deploy proprietary applets.

This opens the door to additional use cases beyond classic login and signatures, including physical access control, crypto wallet integration, and software rights management – all within the same hardware token.

SECORA ID Key S USB is powered by Infineon’s SLC38 crypto controller and runs a Java Card operating system compliant with Java Card 3.1 and GlobalPlatform v2.3.1. The platform provides 250 kB of user non-volatile memory (NVM) – with an extra 64 kB available if the ISO file system applet is removed – plus 7,392 bytes of free user RAM.

It supports a full range of cryptographic operations, including secure key management and certificate handling for encrypted communication and digital signatures, positioning it as a versatile anchor for advanced passwordless authentication and identity solutions.

Because the authenticator connects over USB and NFC, it works seamlessly in environments that lack integrated smart card readers and is easier to deploy into existing IT systems. The combination of hardware-level security, flexible Java Card applet support, and multiple transport options is aimed at meeting both business and end-user requirements for scalable, secure authentication.

Infineon offers SECORA ID Key S USB in a dedicated System-in-Package (SiP) configuration that integrates the security controller with a USB bridge controller in a single package. The compact form factor (4 x 4 x 0.85 mm) supports tight design envelopes, helps reduce the bill of materials, and simplifies logistics and inventory management for OEMs.

To accelerate integration, Infineon provides a full set of development tools, including a Java Card development environment and the Infineon Configurator for building custom applets and personalizing the onboard Java Card OS.

The company backs this with services such as technical support, training, and consulting, and is collaborating with ecosystem partners to broaden use cases and enhance interoperability around the SECORA ID Key S USB authentication solution.
