Today marked the beginning of the debut edition of the PCIM Asia New Delhi Conference, which is India’s new arena for the international power electronics community. The conference, which brings together top academic researchers with industry experts, paves the way for innovations in next-generation power electronics.

Power electronics are key for increasing efficiency, lowering energy loss, and facilitating smart grids and sustainable energy transitions since it is the foundation of technologies like electric mobility, renewable energy systems, data centers, and sophisticated consumer devices.
The two-day event promises to be a very active platform with many of chances for future development, innovation, and collaboration.
Day one of the conference commenced with an interesting session in the presence of esteemed distinguished dignitaries, including:
- Guest of Honour, Smt Sunita Verma, Group Coordinator, R&D; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India
- Chief Guest, Dr D Sai Baba, Joint Secretary-Transmission & Coordination, Ministry of Power, Government of India
- Prof (Dr) Leo Lorenz, President, European Centre for Power Electronics
- Dr Gourab Majumdar, IEEE Fellow, Entered IEEE-ISPSD Inaugural Hall of Fame; Senior Fellow, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation
- Ms Petra Haarburger, Director of PCIM Product Portfolio, Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH
- Raj Manek, Executive Director & Board Member, Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd
The conference offers the chance to interact with world leaders in technology and investigate possible partnerships in R&D, system design, and component manufacture. The format of the event also facilitates student mentoring, industry-academia interaction sessions, and interactive poster exhibitions with the goal of developing the next generation of talent.
The Ministry of Power, INEMI & IPCA, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) actively support the conference (Partners | PCIM India Conference 2025).
Leadership Comments
Guest of Honour, Smt Sunita Verma, Group Coordinator, R&D; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India, expressed: “MeitY has been funding research in the power electronics industry for a long time. In India, the semiconductor mission, we are looking at some fabrication facilities in Silicon Carbide. There is a huge scope for Made in India, indigenous power electronics, circuits, devices, materials and systems. We are looking forward to collaborating and developing solutions for the country. There is a promise as the government has launched policies, fiscal support and requirements from the government. There will be exponential growth in demand within the country and the globe. This will enable India to make its mark in the field of power electronics.”
