The TLE994x and TLE995x are two new solutions for brushed (BDC) and brushless (BLDC) motor applications that Infineon Technologies is adding to its MOTIX 32-bit motor control SoC (System-on-chip) family.

The new MOTIX SoCs, which range from features like seat adjustment to battery cooling in electric vehicles, are designed for small- to medium-sized automotive motors. These motors are utilized in a growing variety of safety-critical applications and are becoming more and more common in modern, particularly electric ones.
As a result, manufacturers need reliable, small, and reasonably priced solutions that combine several features. The new Motix SoCs combine superior integration with functional safety and cybersecurity-relevant capabilities, drawing on Infineon’s vast experience in motor control.
Based on the scalable TLE99xx architecture, Infineon presents a new generation of the MOTIX MCU family with the TLE994x/5x series. Future product hardware and software efficiencies are made possible by this unified approach, which streamlines design and boosts development productivity.
Infineon also offers a whole development ecosystem, which includes evaluation boards, setup and simulation tools, and specialized software packages, to speed up evaluation and design-in. Faster time-to-market, robust performance, and quick prototyping are further supported by a 150 W water pump reference design and application-optimized FOC motor control software.
By Combining a Gate Driver, Microcontroller, Communication Interface, and Power Supply in a Single Chip, Infineon’s MOTIX 32-bit Motor Control SoCs Offer:Â
- Exceptional functionality with minimal footprint.
- New LIN-based devices feature an Arm Cortex-M23 core running up to 40 MHz, with integrated flash and RAM.
- Field-Oriented Control (FOC) capability ensures efficient and precise motor operation.
- Compared to the established TLE986x/7x family, the TLE994x/5x offers enhanced peripherals, flexible PWM generation via the CCU7, and automatic LIN message handling to reduce CPU load.
- All devices comply with ISO 26262 (ASIL B) for functional safety. Additionally, the integrated Arm® TrustZone technology provides a foundation for improved system security.
Key Applications Include:
The three-phase TLE995x (BLDC) is ideal for pumps and fans in thermal management systems, while the two-phase TLE994x (BDC) targets comfort functions such as electric seats and power windows.
Both devices integrate advanced diagnostic and protection functions that support reliable motor operation.
