HMS Networks new cutting-edge automotive gateway under its product brand Ixxat, with the recently released Mobilizer Series. The Mobilizer is a versatile standalone system that combines unmatched versatility, sturdy hardware design, and user-friendly software tools to suit the varied and rigorous requirements of automotive communication and testing.
Data logging, gateway functions, rest bus simulation, firmware flashing, and end-of-line testing are just a few of the many uses for the Ixxat Mobilizer, which is outfitted with the best communication standards, including CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet (100/1000-Base-T1), EtherCAT, and FlexRay. The new series was created specifically for end-of-line testing applications and automotive test benches.
The Advanced Configuration Tool (ACT), an innovative and user-friendly drag-and-drop software, is included with every Mobilizer model. Without the need for programming skills, users can utilize it to customize the gateway behavior, data logging, or rest bus simulation applications and visualization.
This greatly cuts down on deployment time while also simplifying the initial setup process. The Mobilizer series, which supports Automotive Ethernet, CAN/FD, LIN, and FlexRay, combines several network protocols into a single unit. Because of its adaptability, fewer devices are required, which streamlines processes and lowers operating expenses.
“Once you have configured and parameterized your application via the ACT software, you just send the configuration onto Mobilizer and it works properly without any additional software”, explains Markus Demaria, Product Manager Automotive Solutions at HMS Networks.
CAN meets Automotive Ethernet
With a maximum of eight CAN/FD channels, each of which supports signal improvement capabilities (sic), the Mobilizer ensures outstanding signal stability and permits many components to operate simultaneously. This makes it possible for in-car networks to connect quickly and reliably.
The 100/1000Base-T1 Automotive Ethernet interface, on the other hand, provides low-latency communication and speeds of up to 1,000 Mbit/s to connect to the surrounding automation level.
The Mobilizer ensures synchronized system communication and device monitoring by bridging IVN data to automation environments with extra EtherCAT and Generic Ethernet interfaces.
Furthermore, strong data security is guaranteed via a plugin-based encryption mechanism, which eliminates the need for tedious programming. The Mobilizer ensures smooth project transitions by managing encryption uniformly across all applications and allowing users to encrypt data only once.
Integrated Rest Bus Simulation (RBS) in Minutes
The Mobilizer simplifies the setup and operation of a standalone rest bus simulation with integrated support for MATLAB models. Configuring RBS is as easy as dragging and dropping within the ACT tool, eliminating manual parameter setup.
“While other tools on the market usually require a time-consuming programming effort until rest bus simulation applications are running properly, the Mobilizer series only needs to be configured”, says Markus Demaria. “Instead of several hours of programming, setting up a simple rest bus simulation with the Mobilizer is done within minutes.”
I/O Interfaces for Versatile Applications
Depending on the model, the Mobilizer supports up to six digital I/Os, two analog inputs, and four analog outputs, enabling the integration of multiple measurement devices in parallel.
While primarily used as a desktop device by engineers, the Mobilizer is also suitable for DIN rail mounting in industrial environments such as test benches and control rooms.
Technical Excellence Backed by a Robust Platform
Built for harsh conditions, the Mobilizer features a durable aluminum chassis with advanced cooling, supporting operation in temperatures from -40 °C to +70 °C. An integrated temperature monitoring system ensures reliable performance, even under heavy computational loads.
All models of the Mobilizer series incorporate an embedded processing platform with a quad-core i.MX 8M Plus processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 4 GB of flash memory. This makes it a powerful and flexible solution for modern automotive testing scenarios.
