The partnership focuses on launching industry-aligned skilling initiatives for the semiconductor assembly, testing, marking, and packaging (ATMP) sector, directly supporting India’s ambition to build a robust electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
As part of the agreement, Tata Electronics and NIELIT Kohima will co-develop standardized training programs and certification courses designed to prepare local youth for employment in semiconductor assembly and related fields.
The collaboration extends beyond classroom learning; students will gain practical industry exposure through hands-on internships and vocational training programs, ensuring job-readiness for the modern semiconductor landscape.
This initiative holds strategic significance for Nagaland and the Northeast as Tata Electronics builds a high-volume semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, Assam, anticipated to generate approximately 27,000 jobs, including 15,000 direct positions.
The partnership aims not only to bridge the domestic talent gap for Tata Electronics’ operations in Assam but also to provide broader employment opportunities for the youth in other regions of India.
This collaboration reflects the shared commitment to sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth, positioning the Northeast as a valuable contributor to India’s semiconductor growth story.
Tata Electronics and NIELIT remain dedicated to empowering young Indians with future-ready skills and supporting the nation’s growing role in global semiconductor value chains.
