For the first time, RML Group has received Conformity of Production (CoP) certification for its battery systems, which is a significant step toward OEM-supply readiness.
RML’s quality management systems have been verified to continuously produce products in compliance with UN ECE Regulation 100, the primary safety norm for electric powertrain components, after a thorough examination by UCA, an impartial organization chosen by the certifying authorities.
It is generally accepted that suppliers who collaborate with large automotive must have CoP accreditation. It shows that a business can reliably and efficiently build to high safety requirements in addition to designing to them. RML Group firmly enters the market for Tier 1-capable suppliers with this approval.
The certification puts RML in a position to bid on larger contracts that go far beyond prototyping or ultra-low volume production, and it is a component of the company’s larger effort to homologate its VarEVolt battery technology.
Leadership Comments
“This is an important step forward for RML,” said James Arkell, Head of Powertrain, RML Group. “It really highlights the in-depth technical capability and quality standards RML adhere to. Performance is a key part of what RML offers – doing this safely, reliably, and repeatably is key to our success, and this certification solidifies that message to the industry.”
Arkell continued: “This certification puts clear water between us and a number of smaller start-ups in the EV space. It underlines our readiness to move from prototyping and niche volumes to supporting larger production contracts.”
RML Group was established in 1984 by Ray Mallock and, based on its core value of technical excellence, continues to provide world-class performance engineering in short-run manufacture, continuation cars, advanced battery development, and customized motorsport programs.
