HCL Technologies opened a INR 185 crore advanced semiconductor lab in Bengaluru on Tuesday, September 8. The company says the facility is a key step in its push to offer integrated semiconductor testing and post-silicon engineering services to global clients.
What the Bengaluru lab brings
Spread across 40,000 sq ft, the new centre includes 25,000 sq ft of Class 10K and Class 1K cleanrooms designed for high-precision work. It covers the full post-silicon workflow: advanced testing, electrical validation, qualification, and failure analysis.
Equipment vendors include Teradyne, Advantest, Keysight, Tektronix and Thermo Fisher Scientific, with the lab supporting R&D, pre-production and production qualification.
HCL Technologies says this setup should help customers shorten turnaround times, improve quality and reduce complexity when moving from design to volume production.
Certifications and capabilities
The facility is being aligned to secure global certifications such as ISO 17025, ISO 9001, AS 9100 (Mil-Aero) and ISO 13485 (Medical).
Inside the cleanroom, HCLTech has deployed the latest ATE testers, probes and qualification chambers, along with advanced failure-analysis tools that include optical and electron microscopy and focused ion beam (FIB) systems.
Through its Spec2Parts business model, the lab offers a single platform that ties together electrical validation, automated testing, qualification and failure analysis, effectively streamlining the path from design specifications to finished semiconductor parts.
