Global automotive supplier WEGMANN automotive is retiring its legacy IT architecture in favor of a unified digital foundation, rolling out CONTACT Elements as its central Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform. The move will establish a single source of truth across the enterprise, replacing two disjointed PLM systems that previously bogged down operations.
As the world’s leading manufacturer of wheel balancing weights and battery bushings, WEGMANN is navigating a rapidly shifting industry landscape. The ongoing transition to e-mobility brings intense cost pressures, complex supply chain hurdles, and stricter sustainability mandates.
To maintain and expand its market dominance, the company realized it needed to eliminate the manual product data transfers and siloed business units that defined its old setup.
The software upgrade promises a massive operational shift for the company’s engineering teams.
Under the hood, the new platform consolidates product data from WEGMANN’s legacy CAD Desktop and PRO.FILE systems, creating a uniform classification system for all development data. Using standard interfaces, the company is seamlessly connecting its Creo Parametric and SolidWorks CAD systems, and is actively planning an integration for its S/4HANA ERP system to further reduce overhead.
WEGMANN selected CONTACT Elements largely for its modular architecture and intuitive web-based interface, which is expected to drive high user adoption.
Teaming up with migration experts dpace, a partner with deep experience in PRO.FILE transitions, WEGMANN is taking a phased approach to the rollout. The initial stage will focus heavily on standardizing project and requirements management across the entire organization.
