Skyworks Si86Px Integrates Power and Isolation in One Compact IC

THE VOLT VOTES

Skyworks has introduced its Si86Px family of digital isolators with integrated power, a compact, all-in-one solution that combines high-performance signal isolation with an isolated DC-DC converter and a matched miniature transformer.

Built for industrial and automotive systems, the Si86Px is designed to simplify isolation architectures while reducing PCB footprint, BOM, and overall design complexity.

One of the key challenges in isolated system design is generating stable, high-quality power on the isolated side especially when board space is tight or no local power source is available.

The Si86Px family of digital isolators tackles this head-on by integrating both signal and power isolation into a single package. The result is a faster design cycle and a clean, well-regulated power source suitable for precision components like ADCs and sensors.

Integrated Power and Data Isolation

The Si86Px family combines Skyworks’ digital isolation technology with an integrated DC-DC converter capable of delivering up to 0.5 W of isolated power.

This eliminates the need for external transformers or discrete power modules, helping designers build more compact and cost-efficient systems.

Key highlights include:

  • Load regulation as low as 0.1% (typical), ideal for sensitive analog components.
  • Data rates up to 150 Mbps, supporting high-speed protocols like SPI and RS-485.
  • High common-mode transient immunity of 100 kV/µs for reliable operation in electrically noisy environments.
  • Compact wide-body SOIC-16/20 packaging for easier integration and manufacturing.

Built for Harsh Environments

The Si86Px is engineered to perform reliably in demanding conditions. It operates across a wide temperature range from –40°C to +125°C and provides 3.75 kVrms isolation, making it well-suited for industrial automation, factory equipment, and automotive applications.

The integrated architecture also reduces design complexity and helps meet EMI and compliance requirements with fewer external components.

Performance improvements stand out as well. With 0.1% typical load regulation up to 10× tighter than comparable solutions it ensures stable power delivery to precision circuitry.

Data rates reach up to 150 Mbps, outperforming many alternatives capped at 100 Mbps, while 100 kV/µs CMTI ensures robust signal integrity even in high-noise environments like motor drives.

Skyworks Si86Px Digital Isolators With Integrated Power The Volt PostLeadership Comments

“At a time when industrial designs demand higher performance in smaller footprints, the Si86Px delivers a complete, easy-to-use isolation subsystem,” said Yusuf Jamal, senior vice president and general manager of the RF and mixed-signal intelligence solutions business at Skyworks. “By integrating power and signal isolation with industry-leading load regulation, designers can simplify their designs without compromising performance.”
