Rohde & Schwarz is bringing its latest security tech to Security Essen 2026, running from September 22 to 25. Alongside its proven QPS201 static scanner, the company is set to debut the QPS Walk500, a streamlined, highly compact version of its QPS Walk2000 designed specifically to keep things moving at massive events.

Event security is a notoriously tricky balancing act. Venues need to reliably catch weapons, explosives, and other contraband without turning entryways into massive bottlenecks. That is precisely where the new QPS Walk500 comes in.
High Throughput Meets Advanced Detection
Built for high-traffic environments, the QPS Walk500 lets attendees glide right through checkpoints without stopping or shedding their coats.
Processing up to 750 people per hour, it marries millimeter-wave technology with AI-driven algorithms to spot everything traditional metal detectors miss including plastics, ceramics, liquids, organic materials, and various types of metals.
Instead of slow, manual pat-downs, the system features automatic threat detection that pinpoints suspicious objects on a neutral avatar. This shows security staff exactly where to look, drastically speeding up targeted follow-up checks.
For even smoother processing, an optional hand-masking feature lets visitors hold everyday carry items like phones, wallets, and keys without triggering false alarms.
Lightweight, Flexible, and Welcoming
Weighing in with a lightweight, open design, the QPS Walk500 offers a much more welcoming and intuitive screening experience than traditional, intimidating access control gates. Clear audio and visual cues make operation seamless for staff and visitors alike.
In addition to event security, Rohde & Schwarz will showcase its broader portfolio tailored for high-stakes environments from aviation and border control to data centers, corrections facilities, and critical infrastructure like nuclear plants.
They will also highlight ARDRONIS, their heavy-duty drone defense system built to detect, track, and neutralize RF-based drone threats.
Catch the Rohde & Schwarz team in action from September 22 to 25 at Booth 6C39 in Hall 6.
