The new R&S NRP150T thermal power sensor has the largest non-banded frequency range of any commercially available RF power sensor in the world thanks to its next-generation high-performance coaxial 0.80 mm RF connector, which supports frequencies up to 150 GHz. It opens up new high-frequency power measuring applications, such as upcoming automotive radar bands. Furthermore, the new wideband power sensor streamlines RF instrument calibration and validation.

Rohde & Schwarz expands the frequency range of their R&S NRPxT series to 150 GHz with the new R&S NRP150T thermal power sensor. The first RF power sensor to cover every automotive radar frequency band, including a new higher frequency band, is the R&S NRP150T.
Here, new frequencies up to 148.5 GHz for advanced radar sensors are being defined by the ADAS/AD community in collaboration with standardization authorities.
Beyond automotive applications, the sensor facilitates greater frequency range investigation by supporting power measurements in a variety of domains, including radio astronomy, satellite communication, and inter-satellite communications.
Fast measurement speed and wide frequency range enhance efficiency
Up to 500 measurements can be made per second with the R&S NRP150T thermal power sensor. This speeds up the validation and calibration of vector network analyzers and other RF instruments by enabling single-sweep measurements across the whole spectrum due to its broad frequency range.
With the next generation 0.80 mm RF connectors for frequencies up to 150 GHz, the sensor can be used in any application, facilitating the development of devices and the manufacturing of components.
Technical excellence combined with ease of use
Long-term stability and a wide dynamic range of -35 to +20 dBm are provided by the R&S NRP150T thermal power sensor.
Within its operating range of 0°C to +50°C, it adapts for environmental temperature swings and demonstrates exceptional drift performance, remaining resistant to out-of-band signals and external temperature changes.
The sensor guarantees excellent matching and effective power transfer with a maximum voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 1.7. The R&S NRX base unit from Rohde & Schwarz, compatible with common PCs and Android mobile devices via a free remote control app, and USB connectivity make it simple to operate.
NMI traceability
The new R&S NRP150T sensor, like all power sensors in the R&S NRPxT family, provides traceability to national metrology institutes (NMI), a need for the commercial and industrial use of a frequency band.
Using R&S technology, the Physikalisch-Technische-
Bundesanstalt (PTB) and other European NMIs worked with Rohde & Schwarz to provide NMI traceability for D-Band operating between 110 and 170 GHz. This includes the frequencies that R&S NRP150T power sensors use up to 150 GHz.
The new R&S NRP150T thermal power sensors are now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
