The new 6780-000 Series IP20 T1 Industrial Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE) connectors and cable assemblies have been released by KYOCERA AVX.
The new 6780-000 Series T1 Industrial SPE connectors are made to satisfy the increasing need for faster and smaller Industrial Ethernet connectors that can simplify networks and provide continuous communication.
They do this by transmitting Ethernet over a single pair of twisted copper wires and simultaneously supplying terminal devices with power through Power over Data Line (PoDL) technology.
Conventional RJ45 Ethernet connectors lack a power supply and call for two wire pairs for Fast Ethernet (100Mb/s) and four wire pairs for Gigabit Ethernet (1Gb/s).
Compared to RJ45 connectors, the new 6780-000 Series SPE connectors offer significant weight and space savings through smaller, lighter form factors and less wiring. They also take up 45% less board space.
By doing away with bus systems, analog interfaces, gateways, and other proprietary field-level technologies, they also lower system complexity and expenses and are quick and simple to install and maintain.
In applications such as advanced automation networks, sensor and actuator networks, control and monitoring cameras, smart grids, robotics, traffic control, transportation, and smart monitoring systems, this simplification is particularly helpful for increasing reliability and efficiency while lowering the need for system maintenance and unscheduled downtime.
The new 6780-000 Series T1 Industrial SPE connectors transmit 1Gb/s up to 40 meters and 10Mb/s up to 1,000 meters. They are designed, produced, and tested in accordance with IEEE 802.3 and IEC 63171-6 standards.
Additionally, they include IP20 ratings, RoHS compliance, and surface-mount solder tails that enhance data signal performance and terminate signal wires to PCBs, allowing the control computer to communicate continuously with sensors and other IIoT devices.
Furthermore, the plugs use cold-welded insulation displacement contact (IDC) technology, which is very reliable and allows automated cable assembly operations that are quick and dependable. The 22AWG T1 Industrial SPE cables in this series come in four basic lengths: 1, 3, 5, and 10 meters. Custom lengths can be ordered upon request.
The new 6780-000 Series SPE connectors are also rated for 600VDC contact-to-contact proof voltage, 2,250VDC contact-to-shield proof voltage, 4A at 60°C, and 60VDC operation.
They are rated for 1,000 cycles of endurance in operating temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C, and they have a maximum mating force of 20N and a minimum polarization and pull-out force of 50N.
