Building automation for smart environments is the focus of an exciting new design challenge that element14 and NXP have partnered to create. Engineers and tech enthusiasts are encouraged to use NXP FRDM MCX A Series (A15X) development kit to create creative solutions for this challenge.

Ten chosen applicants will solve a building automation design challenge while receiving the NXP FRDM MCX A15X kit.
Projects that have been proposed include, but are not restricted to:
- Smart Temperature Control System
- Bluetooth Lighting Controller
- Attendance and Presence Monitoring
- Meeting Room Booking System
- CO2 Monitor
- Foot Traffic Monitoring System
The chosen challengers will be revealed on December 20. Applications are accepted till December 16. After that, participants will have until March 7, 2025, to finish their projects and write blog entries on the element14 Community platform detailing their experiences.
Contestants will vie for a variety of thrilling rewards. Multicomp Pro Multimeters, a CCTV system, and a Nest Home Automation Kit will be awarded to the top prize and runners-up.
Participants must document their build process and publish frequent updates in order to be eligible, and their Building Automation Project must be showcased at the end.
At element14 Community’s booth at Farnell’s display in Avnet City at electronica 2024, the online hackathon-style challenge was formally introduced, urging participants to find out more and participate.
