Siemens to acquire Precision Innovations, in a move aimed at strengthening its AI chip design capabilities. The deal, expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 pending customary approvals, will bring advanced chip planning technologies into Siemens’ expanding EDA portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 2019, Precision Innovations has built its platform on the open-source OpenROAD framework, enabling semiconductor teams to assess design feasibility earlier in the system-on-chip (SoC) development cycle.
Its tools help engineers optimize power, performance, and area while reducing costly design iterations and accelerating time to market, an increasingly critical need as chip complexity continues to rise.
With this acquisition, Siemens plans to integrate Precision Innovations’ AI chip design exploration and planning capabilities into its Digital Design Creation portfolio. The addition is expected to complement Siemens’ existing digital design and verification tools, enabling faster feasibility analysis and more informed downstream decision-making across the silicon lifecycle.
Precision Innovations’ solutions are already used by several leading semiconductor and technology companies. By combining these capabilities with its broader EDA ecosystem, Siemens aims to offer a more comprehensive, end-to-end digital design flow, spanning architecture, implementation, and lifecycle management, while helping customers improve productivity and manage growing design complexity.
The acquisition also aligns with Precision Innovations’ founding mission to make advanced chip design more accessible by lowering barriers related to cost, expertise, and uncertainty.
