Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente has signed a new franchise agreement with GigaDevice Semiconductor Inc., expanding access to GigaDevice’s embedded semiconductor portfolio across EMEA and Southeast Asia, including India.
The agreement gives Rutronik customers access to GigaDevice’s complete range of microcontrollers, sensors and power management ICs, strengthening the distributor’s embedded solutions portfolio.
GigaDevice, a global fabless semiconductor supplier, develops high-performance solutions for a wide range of markets, including industrial, automotive, energy, communications, consumer electronics and IoT. Its addition to Rutronik’s line card is expected to broaden the options available to customers developing increasingly connected and performance-intensive embedded systems.
A key part of the agreement is GigaDevice’s GD32® microcontroller family, which is based on Arm® Cortex®-M and RISC-V architectures. The portfolio spans entry-level, mainstream and high-performance MCUs, allowing developers to select devices according to their performance, peripheral and cost requirements.
The GD32 platform is supported by a broad development ecosystem that includes development tools, evaluation boards, software development kits (SDKs), real-time operating system (RTOS) support and security solutions. This scalability enables the platform to address applications ranging from cost-sensitive embedded designs to computationally demanding real-time systems.
The partnership comes as demand for high-performance microcontrollers continues to grow, driven by industrial digitalization, edge AI, smart grids, automotive electronics and energy-efficient IoT systems. Alongside performance, manufacturers are placing greater emphasis on cybersecurity, functional safety, long-term product availability and supply-chain resilience.
With its broad semiconductor portfolio, manufacturing expertise and global supply network, GigaDevice is positioned to address these requirements while creating new opportunities for Rutronik customers.
The combined offering can support embedded designs across industrial automation, smart metering, e-mobility, energy storage, EV charging infrastructure, robotics, building automation, connected IoT and edge AI applications.
The agreement further strengthens the company’s ability to support customers developing the next generation of connected and intelligent embedded systems across key growth markets.
