R&M is expanding its outdoor fiber optic portfolio with a new addition built around its HEC-QR connectivity platform, the compact, pre-terminated LUNAR fiber optic distribution box. Designed to support plug-and-play network deployment, the LUNAR box simplifies how fiber infrastructure is rolled out in the field.

The product is making its debut at ANGA COM 2026 in Cologne, where R&M is showcasing real-world applications and sharing insights into its PreCon system for pre-terminated fiber cabling.
With the LUNAR solution, network operators and construction teams receive fully pre-terminated, factory-tested units that are ready to install. Each box is assembled based on specific project requirements and delivered directly to warehouses or deployment sites.
Since the fibers are already terminated, there’s no need for on-site splicing significantly reducing installation time and complexity. The closed box can be mounted on poles, building facades, or suspension cables using standard tools.

R&M recommends pairing the LUNAR box with HEC-QR connectivity for projects that demand fast rollouts with limited resources.
The LUNAR fiber optic distribution box comes in three sizes, supporting up to twelve ports within a compact footprint of up to 20 centimeters in width. It uses HEC-QR outdoor quick-release connectors, enabling a largely plug-and-play setup.
Its modular design supports a wide range of configurations, including point-to-point and point-to-multipoint networks, with options for splitters, fan-out cabling, and interfaces such as LC, SC, and MPO. The system meets IP68 protection standards as well as IEC and Telcordia® GR-771 requirements.
Typical applications include FTTH deployments in rural areas using aerial cabling, as well as fiber-to-the-antenna (FTTA) installations for mobile networks.
R&M also sees strong potential in rail and utility network digitalization, along with industrial and other harsh-environment data networking scenarios.
