Meet The New High-Speed, Ultra-Low Power TMR Switch in a New TO-92 Package

THE VOLT VOTES

Littelfuse is expanding its popular TX00 TMR Switch family with a brand-new option for design teams – the TX00AT314AMA Omnipolar TMR Switch Sensor.

Littelfuse New TX00AT314AMA Omnipolar TMR Switch Sensor The Volt Post

The big story here is flexibility. By packaging this sensor in a leaded TO-92 form factor and manufacturing it in South Korea, Littelfuse is giving engineers a new physical design option while actively diversifying the supply chain.

Under the hood, the new TX00AT314AMA Omnipolar TMR Switch Sensor delivers the exact same proven performance as its SOT-23-3 sibling, the TX00AS314TRA. You still get ultra-low 1.5 µA power consumption, high sensitivity, and fast switching speeds of up to 1 kHz.

Like the rest of the TX00 lineup, the TX00AT314AMA is entirely omnipolar. Because it happily responds to both North and South magnetic poles, design teams can skip the headache of strict polarity alignment.

It also uses X-axis (in-plane) sensing to detect magnetic fields parallel to the sensor’s surface, opening up even more mechanical design possibilities.

To keep performance rock-solid, Littelfuse integrated a precision TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) sensing element directly with CMOS signal-processing circuitry.

Packed with an on-chip voltage generator, low-noise amplifier, comparator, and Schmitt trigger, the sensor boasts excellent thermal stability and strong noise immunity. Combined with built-in hysteresis and precise operating thresholds, the result is clean, bounce-free switching, even in heavily noisy electrical environments.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Ultra-low power consumption (1.5 µA typ.) extends battery life in always-on systems
  • High sensitivity (~14 Gauss) enables reliable detection with small magnets
  • Omnipolar sensing simplifies design and reduces alignment requirements
  • Fast response (up to 1 kHz) supports dynamic and rotational sensing
  • Integrated signal conditioning and hysteresis improve noise immunity and switching stability
  • Leaded TO-92 package supports through-hole assembly and prototype-friendly integration

Markets and Applications

The TX00AT314AMA is designed for applications requiring low power, high reliability, and prototype-to-production flexibility, including:

  • Building and home automation (smart meters with tamper detection, position and limit sensing)
  • Industrial automation (proximity sensing}
  • Consumer electronics (appliances, power tools, battery-powered IoT and wearable devices)
  • Utilities (gas, water, and heat metering)

By combining proven TX00 performance with a through-hole form factor and diversified origin, the TX00AT314AMA helps engineers design smaller, smarter, and longer-lasting products while reducing maintenance requirements and improving system reliability.

The TX00AT314AMA expands packaging and sourcing options within the Littelfuse TX00 TMR Switch family, giving design teams greater flexibility without sacrificing the performance characteristics engineers already rely on.

Leadership Comment

Littelfuse New TX00AT314AMA Omnipolar TMR Switch Sensor The Volt Post“The TX00AT314AMA gives design engineers a new way to access the TX00 platform’s proven performance,” said Bavly Obaid, Global Product Manager, Sensors at Littelfuse. “The TO-92 package supports through-hole assembly and prototype-friendly integration, while South Korea origin gives our customers a concrete option for supply chain diversification—two things that matter a great deal in today’s design environment.”
