By achieving IEC 62443-4-1 ML2 certification, Microchip helps its customers simplify their own cybersecurity compliance, mitigate supply-chain risks, and prepare for emerging regulations such as the EU’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
Microchip Technology has earned certification from UL Solutions to the IEC-62443-4-1 Maturity Level-2 (ML2) Industrial Automation and Control Systems standard, a key milestone that validates the company’s “secure-by-design” approach to product development.
As connected systems continue to expand across homes, factories, and commercial spaces, this independent certification offers customers greater confidence that Microchip’s products are built under a robust, verified cybersecurity framework.
The IEC-62443-4-1 standard defines what a mature Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) should include from threat modeling and secure design principles to rigorous implementation checks, verification, validation, and ongoing patch management.
Through UL Solutions’ audit process, Microchip has demonstrated that security is embedded into every stage of its hardware and software development, from the earliest design phases through product end-of-life and that these processes are consistently applied across its global engineering and manufacturing sites.
By achieving IEC-62443-4-1 ML2 certification, Microchip helps its customers simplify their own cybersecurity compliance, mitigate supply-chain risks, and prepare for emerging regulations such as the EU’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
Leadership Comments
“Achieving IEC-62443-4-1 ML2 certification reflects Microchip’s long-standing commitment to rigorous security practices,” said Nuri Dagdeviren, corporate vice president of Microchip Technology’s secure computing group. “Customers need partners who can demonstrate secure development maturity, not simply claim it. This independently validated certification strengthens trust, reduces risk across the hardware–firmware stack and supports our customers as they work toward CRA and other standards-based compliance.”
