Magnachip Launches 8th-Gen 40V/60V MOSFETs for Servers

THE VOLT VOTES

Magnachip Semiconductor has introduced its new 8th-generation 40V and 60V MV MOSFETs, designed to power next-generation server and high-performance PC power supply units.

As global data center and server power demands continue to surge, energy efficiency and power density have become key differentiators for semiconductor solutions.

Magnachip’s latest MV MOSFETs aim to address both needs delivering enhanced reliability and efficiency for advanced power supply designs in servers and high-performance computing (HPC) systems.

The new devices are optimized for the Synchronous Rectification (SR) stage of server and PC power systems. Featuring the company’s Advanced SGT technology, the 40V MOSFETs achieve up to a 40% boost in current density and around 25% faster switching speeds compared to the previous generation.

The 60V versions go even further, offering up to 50% higher current density and 60% faster switching. In addition, fast anti-parallel diode technology helps dissipate residual current during switching, improving overall system stability.

Built for demanding operating environments, the MOSFETs support temperatures up to 175°C and come in compact PDFN56 packages enabling sleek, high-density power designs. Fully compliant with JEDEC standards, these components are well-suited not only for servers and PCs but also for solar inverters and industrial power systems where efficiency and reliability are critical.

Following the release of its 0.7m? 40V device in May 2025, Magnachip is expanding its 8th-generation MV MOSFET lineup with three new variants: 0.8m? 40V, 1.0m? 40V, and 1.05m? 60V models.

According to Omdia, the global server and data center power supply market (covering computing and data storage) is expected to grow from about $2.3 billion in 2025 to $3.0 billion by 2029, a CAGR of 7.4%. With this strengthened product portfolio, Magnachip is well-positioned to enhance its presence in the rapidly expanding power semiconductor market.
