Infineon and Valeo Showcase LBS Ground Projection at AutoChina 2026

THE VOLT VOTES

Infineon and Valeo are working together on a short-distance ground projection module that uses Laser Beam Scanning (LBS). Their first joint innovation is being shown at AutoChina 2026 in Beijing, at the Valeo booth in Hall B2, Booth B2D01.

The new module defining the future of mobility is designed to deliver bright, high-contrast projections that remain clearly visible even in daylight. By combining Infineon’s 2D MEMS mirror and controller with Valeo’s high-definition projection system, the solution achieves strong brightness, resolution, and visual impact.

The first version supports bi-color output, while future versions are already planned with full-color capability.

Infineon and Valeo collaboration is said to reflect a bigger trend in the automotive industry as cars are becoming more expressive, more connected, and more personalized.

Ground projection opens up new ways for OEMs to create memorable welcome and goodbye light signatures, brand-specific visuals, and custom messages that appear right next to the vehicle. It turns a simple interaction into a more engaging and emotional experience for the driver.

The technology also has clear safety potential. When paired with Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, ground projections can display useful warnings and signals directly in the vehicle’s surroundings.

That could include braking alerts, pedestrian crossing notices, or lane-change intentions, making the information easier to notice for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers of non-connected vehicles.

Subject to regulatory approval, this kind of visual communication could add a useful safety layer to existing systems. It bridges digital data and the real world in a way that feels intuitive, visible, and practical.
