Diodes Advances Automotive Efficiency with New PowerDI8080-5 Series

Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) has expanded its PowerDI8080-5 automotive-compliant N-channel MOSFETs portfolio with the introduction of a new ultra-low RDS(ON) 100V MOSFET, setting a new benchmark in power efficiency for automotive systems.

Launched alongside a series of 40V to 80V MOSFETs, the lineup is engineered to minimize conduction losses, reduce heat generation, and boost overall system efficiency.

Each device features an 8mm × 8mm PowerDI8080-5 gullwing-leaded package, optimized for thermal performance and compact design making it ideal for BLDC motor drives and DC-DC converters used in battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and internal combustion engine (ICE) platforms.

The highlight of the release, the 100V-rated DMTH10H1M7SPGWQ, offers an exceptionally low RDS(ON) of just 1.5m? (max.), supporting high-efficiency 48V BLDC motor drives in safety-critical systems such as power steering and braking.

It’s also suited for battery disconnect switches and on?board chargers (OBCs). Meanwhile, the 80V-rated DMTH81M2SPGWQ provides strong performance across mid-voltage systems.

For 12V BLDC motors and DC-DC conversion, the 40V-rated DMTH4M40SPGWQ delivers a maximum RDS(ON) of 0.4m?, ranking among the lowest in the industry.

The logic-level 40V DMTH4M40LPGWQ offers a 0.64m? RDS(ON) at a VGS of 4.5V, making it a strong fit for microcontroller-driven applications such as actuators, fan controls, and load switches. The 60V-rated DMTH6M70SPGWQ targets 24V automotive systems, balancing power efficiency with robust performance.

The PowerDI8080-5 package footprint measures just 64mm², about 40% smaller than traditional TO-263 (D2PAK) packages, and features an ultra-low off-board profile of 1.7mm ideal for space-constrained automotive designs.

Advanced copper clip die-bonding lowers thermal resistance to 0.3°C/W, enabling drain currents up to 847A while maintaining safe thermal margins.

Its gullwing leads support automated optical inspection (AOI) and deliver excellent temperature-cycling reliability, ensuring consistent performance in demanding automotive environments.
