Now, Infineon is combining C2i’s digital smarts with its own massive global footprint and raw hardware lineup which spans traditional silicon, silicon carbide (SiC), and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies.
Infineon Technologies has officially closed its acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, a Bengaluru-based tech firm specializing in the complex world of software-defined power for AI data centers. With the deal finalized, the C2i engineering crew is folding directly into Infineon’s Power Systems division.
The buyout is a targeted move to solve one of the biggest bottlenecks in modern computing and that is power delivery.
Next-generation AI processors are power-hungry and unpredictable. They create rapid, highly dynamic load spikes that traditional hardware struggles to manage efficiently.
C2i tackles this problem using software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages. By injecting intelligent digital control and real-time algorithms into the system, these setups can instantly respond to sudden load fluctuations.
This keeps the system stable, cuts energy waste, and meets the massive power density requirements of today’s top-tier AI servers.
Now, Infineon is combining C2i’s digital smarts with its own massive global footprint and raw hardware lineup which spans traditional silicon, silicon carbide (SiC), and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies.
Together, the merged teams are setting their sights on building highly efficient “grid-to-core” power delivery architectures, accelerating the development of future tech like Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators (SIVR).
Beyond the hardware synergy, the acquisition is a major nod to India’s growing clout in semiconductor R&D. Bringing C2i’s specialized talent on board significantly bolsters Infineon’s innovation hub in Bengaluru.
Infineon already employs roughly 2,800 people across the country, and this latest move cements the region’s role as a critical ground zero for next-gen digital power technologies.
