Showcased at electronica India 2026, the NAFEB43388 is a fully configurable industrial Analog Front End (AFE) designed to help industrial OEMs and sensor manufacturers build compact, protected and scalable precision-sensing platforms with fewer external components. Its integrated Analog Front End architecture helps reduce system complexity, lower costs, and accelerate development across industrial applications.
Designed for next-generation programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), remote I/O, instrumentation and precision data acquisition systems, the NAFEB43388 enables a common hardware architecture to support a broad range of field signals, including voltage, current, resistance, as well as temperature inputs from RTDs, thermocouples and thermistors.
By combining multiple analog input functions in a single device, the solution helps developers reduce bill-of-materials (BOM) costs and complexity, PCB footprint and development effort while accelerating platform reuse across different applications.
“Industrial OEMs are looking for greater flexibility in how they design and scale precision sensing platforms without adding complexity to the overall system,” said Madhura Tapse, Senior Product Marketing Manager, NXP Semiconductors. “By supporting multiple sensor types through a common hardware architecture, the NAFEB43388 helps customers reduce external components and development effort while building scalable platforms that can adapt to different industrial sensing requirements.”
Meeting the Need for Flexible Industrial Sensing
Industrial OEMs and sensor manufacturers need to support increasingly diverse sensing requirements while balancing precision, system cost, development time and scalability.
Traditional discrete implementations can require different hardware configurations and multiple external components for different sensor types, adding design complexity and increasing time to market.
The NAFEB43388 addresses this challenge through a highly integrated and configurable architecture that brings together the key building blocks required for industrial analog inputs.
The NAFEB43388 integrates eight software-configurable analog inputs, a 24-bit ADC, a 13-bit DAC, a programmable gain amplifier, a low-drift voltage reference, and a precision sense resistor with smart e-fuse protection in a compact 6 × 6 mm package.
This level of integration helps reduce external components, board space and design complexity while enabling hardware and software reuse across industrial sensing platforms.

Built-in diagnostics and fault-detection capabilities further support reliability in demanding industrial environments. Power-supply monitoring, CRC error detection, temperature monitoring and calibration options help simplify system design while enhancing fault detection and system reliability.
The NAFEB43388 also forms part of NXP’s broader sensing platform approach. When combined with the MCX N or MCX C MCU, developers can create a complete sensing platform spanning sensor input to edge intelligence, supported by a single NXP ecosystem.
Precision Sensing in Action
To illustrate the capabilities of the NAFEB43388, NXP demonstrated a precision weighing-scale application that measured weight changes down to individual grams. The example highlighted how a configurable sensing architecture can support high-accuracy force and weight measurements while simplifying system design.
From Precision Sensing to Connected Intelligence
Beyond sensor measurement, NXP’s Remote I/O Platform (RIOP) shows how developers can bridge sensing, edge processing, and industrial networking within a single architecture. Built on the i.MX RT1180 crossover MCU and NXP’s NAFE technology, the platform helps accelerate Industry 4.0 deployments while reducing system integration effort.
Getting Started with the NAFEB43388
The KITNAFEB43388-EVK is designed to enable rapid evaluation of the NAFEB43388 and demonstrate its compact hardware design and configurability through a graphical user interface (GUI) and driver packs.
The evaluation kit provides plug-and-play compatibility with NXP’s MCX N and MCX C MCU boards through an Arduino connector. Developers can quickly evaluate voltage, current and temperature measurements, including RTD and thermocouple measurements, helping accelerate the development of final applications.
The NAFEB43388 is available now. The KITNAFEB43388-EVK is expected to be available September 2026.
