Abode Systems is launching two weather-resistant additions to its security lineup, the Garage Tilt Sensor and the Outdoor Contact Sensor, built to monitor the outer edges of a property as reliably as the interior.
Garage Tilt Sensor: For Doors, Hatches and Hinged Panels
The Garage Tilt Sensor is designed for up-and-over or tilt-style garage doors, attic hatches, basement tilt windows and any hinged panel that swings open at an angle.
It triggers when a surface changes orientation by more than 45° from its resting position in either direction, sending an instant alert in the Abode app when a door or panel begins to move.
Compact, fully wireless and low-profile, the sensor is easy to install and blends into most environments. Abode rates it for up to 10 years of battery life under normal use, with automatic low?battery notifications and a built-in tamper switch that flags interference.
Outdoor Contact Sensor: Built for Gates, Sheds and Detached Structures
The Outdoor Contact Sensor targets metal gates, sheds, storage units, mailboxes and detached garages, places where indoor-grade contacts often struggle.
A stronger magnet and wider activation gap help cut false alarms caused by wind, vibration and temperature shifts common outdoors. When the contact opens, users get an immediate push notification in the Abode app so they can respond quickly.
Housed in an IP66-rated enclosure, the sensor is built to withstand dust and heavy rain year-round. Dual tamper switches add an extra layer of protection against exposure and physical interference, which is critical for devices mounted in exposed areas.
Automation With CUE: Turn Alerts Into Action
Paired with Abode’s automation engine, CUE, the new sensors unlock personalized scenes that match real-world routines.
Think driveway lights that switch on the moment an entry gate opens after dark, or a garage door that automatically closes itself if it’s been left open for more than 10 minutes.
Connectivity and Setup
Both sensors must be paired with an Abode hub for full functionality and integrate seamlessly with existing Abode systems. Under optimal conditions, wireless connectivity can reach up to 500 ft, giving homeowners flexibility to cover large properties.
Abode provides step-by-step setup instructions that guide users through testing the sensor’s wireless range before mounting, helping ensure reliable connectivity from day one.
Together, the Garage Tilt and Outdoor Contact Sensors extend Abode’s coverage beyond the front door, giving homeowners a more complete view of their property’s perimeter and more ways to automate responses when something moves.
