Sarla Aviation Accelerates eVTOL Push With Siemens

THE VOLT VOTES

Siemens says Sarla Aviation is using the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of industry software to speed up development of its next-generation electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for urban air mobility.

Sarla Aviation eVTOL Development opts Siemens Xcelerator The Volt Post

Based in Bengaluru, Sarla Aviation wants to reshape city transport with electric air taxis that are safe, sustainable and widely accessible. The company plans to begin operations in Bengaluru by 2028, with an advanced air mobility platform designed to make aerial commuting as convenient as premium ride-hailing services.

To support that roadmap, Sarla Aviation has adopted Siemens’ integrated digital thread, linking product design, simulation and lifecycle management in a single environment.

The setup is meant to create a seamless flow of data across development teams, cut design iterations through early-stage simulation, improve collaboration and strengthen the traceability, verification and validation needed for certification.

The company is using a broad set of Siemens software tools, including Designcenter™ for product engineering from concept to detailed design, Simcenter™ for advanced simulation and validation to reduce physical testing, Capital™ for electrical system design, Polarion™ for application development and DO-178C compliance, and Teamcenter® as the digital backbone for product data management, collaboration and traceability across design, simulation and manufacturing.

Leadership Comments

“Our ambition is to make electric air mobility accessible at scale while maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance,” said Rakesh Gaonkar, Co-Founder & CTO, Sarla Aviation. “Working with Siemens and its integrated digital technologies Sarla Aviation eVTOL Development opts Siemens Xcelerator The Volt Postsupports our ability to innovate faster and move closer to delivering reliable and sustainable urban air transport.”

“Digital transformation is critical to scaling new mobility solutions,” said Mathew Thomas, vice president and managing director for India, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “By adopting a comprehensive digital thread using the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, companies like Sarla Aviation are able to accelerate development, improve collaboration and support certification processes for next-generation aircraft.”

Sarla Aviation will present its latest progress in electric air mobility development at Realize LIVE India, where its Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Rakesh Gaonkar will share insights into how a digital thread approach is helping accelerate innovation in advanced air mobility.
