THL originally acquired a majority interest in AMI in 2024 through THL Equity Fund IX and THL Automation Fund I, betting on the company’s strategic role at the intersection of semiconductors, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise computing.
The investment aligned with THL’s broader conviction in AI infrastructure, particularly across the stack that supports next-generation computing, from silicon to firmware and system-level management.
AMI plays a critical role in this ecosystem, developing foundational software that enables modern computing systems to boot, manage, and secure increasingly complex hardware environments. Its position has become more relevant amid rising global investments in AI and data center infrastructure.
During its ownership, THL worked closely with AMI’s leadership to strengthen operations, refine its commercial approach, and expand its relationships across semiconductor companies and hyperscale cloud providers. These efforts were aimed at positioning AMI to capitalize on the accelerating demand for AI-driven compute infrastructure.
The exit also underscores THL’s growing presence in the global compute ecosystem, complementing its other investments, including Brooks Automation, as it continues to build exposure across critical segments of the semiconductor and AI value chain.
